Here’s a little piece of retro chic for you as we come to the cusp on 2008-2009. The ION-Mac 560 still video system from Canon that brought a whole new dimension to computer imaging.
Back in 1992 the ION RC-560 was Canon’s top of the line Still Video camera, capturing images onto 2-inch reusable and interchangeable [...]

Suffering Eye Strain and Finding Solutions

    Monday, December 29th, 2008

Back some 6 months ago or more, I wrote a piece about eye strain and how to try and avoid it. This was pretty much because I myself had come to the very stark realization that I was facing, not just the symptoms of, but the effects of eye strain. If you have done any reading up on the topic you will know that this includes anything from itching eyes, to blurred vision, added light sensitivity, and more. That was 6 months ago.

If I had a penny, cent, dinar or any other division of currency for every time I was asked the key combination for screen capture in Mac OSX, I would most likely be a millionaire by now.

    Thursday, December 11th, 2008

One of the great features of last.fm user pages and widgets are the album and artist image quilts that they use in flash on the site and in embeddables. If you are anything like me, you will have thought how great it would be to be able to take such image quilts and actually place [...]

Joy That Can Be Seen and Heard (by Apple)

    Monday, December 8th, 2008

In a follow up to my posting on “Apple’s Credit Crunch Christmas“, it seems that the onslaught from Apple is unrelenting. There isn’t a day that goes by that doesn’t see a marketing email, all gift wrapped and pretty, sitting in my inbox from yours truly. Whereas last time I commented on how Apple was [...]

A dear friend and great game, icon and all round designer, Marcus Conge, has just released his update to the Adobe Creative suite 4 icon set. Drawing on the packaging for inspiration he has created some simple, yet definitely more inspired, selection of 17 icons to replace the existing ones, that by anyone’s admission are [...]

Acme Made, The Best Laptop Bags for Christmas & Beyond!

    Thursday, December 4th, 2008

In perusing the available options I ended up buying a great looking bag from a startup company in San Francisco, namely Acme Made.  The fact that I am still using the exact [...]

    Apple’s Credit Crunch Christmas

    Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

Based on the email marketing I just received from Apple, I don’t think anyone told them that the world economy is in crisis. This isn’t quite a time for a post-9/11 spend yourself out of a potential recession period, but more a time when people are tightening their purse strings for the long and cold [...]

Sending Large or Multiple Files Via Email or Other Means

    Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

I recently received an email with a 33KB attachment that had been sent via pando.com. In the contents of the email it suggested that I go to http://www.pando.com/download and retrieve a piece of software to be able to open the attachment.
I wouldn’t say I fell off my seat laughing, but it struck me how absolutely [...]

How-to Secure Erase Files from Your Hard Drive in OSX

    Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

Having recently read the following blog entry “Halloween Special: Secure Erase” about how easy it is to secure erase files in Apple’s latest version of the Mac operating System, codenamed Leopard, I thought I would write a quick review of ways to secure erase, files and entire hard drives for those of us using not [...]

AppZapper: The Uninstaller Apple Forgot in OSX

    Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

AppZapper proclaims itself as the application uninstaller that Apple forgot about when it was creating Mac OSX. And the truth is that they are probably right!
A frequent complaint with OSX is that users are able to merely delete software from the applications folder with no recourse and end up encountering trouble or finding that remnants [...]
