    Friday, January 2nd, 2009

In my post Christmas tidy up I came across a long time favorite, the quick start guide for the Wildfire telephone service from Wildfire Communications, Inc. In my habit, of late, to post non-existent manuals online for others to benefit, I have done so with this.
The table of contents reads as follows:

Suffering Eye Strain and Finding Solutions

    Monday, December 29th, 2008

Back some 6 months ago or more, I wrote a piece about eye strain and how to try and avoid it. This was pretty much because I myself had come to the very stark realization that I was facing, not just the symptoms of, but the effects of eye strain. If you have done any reading up on the topic you will know that this includes anything from itching eyes, to blurred vision, added light sensitivity, and more. That was 6 months ago.

The Nikkai Barebones Digital TV Recorder (PVR)

    Sunday, December 21st, 2008

Yesterday, I finally decided to get a digital Freeview box, not only because of Christmas, and all the great programming associated with it, but also due to the impending UK Digital Switchover, and that, despite living in Central London, the analog TV signal to my apartment is pretty dreadful. To this end I succumbed to [...]

Decidedly Low-Tech Approach to Interior Design

    Sunday, October 5th, 2008

Lawyer-by-day and all-round-creative-genius-by-night, Charlie Kratzer, has decided to decorate the basement of his South Lexington, KY home with Sharpie Magic Markers.  The feat of artistic endeavor includes cameos of Hercule Poirot and Sherlock Holmes, as well as British war time leader Winston Churchill and eminent Irish author George Bernard Shaw.
He obviously has a gift and [...]

    Romanian Village Elects Dead Mayor

    Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Linked from the home page of the BBC World News online today was an article about how the Romanian village of Voinesti re-elected their mayor of 2 decades despite the fact that he died the night before the election.
Now I am not quite sure this is worthy of front page news, but I think it’s [...]

Eye Safety & Preventing Eye Strain At The Computer Screen

    Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

Given that my job is working with computers, you can imagine that I already spend at least 8-9 hours a day in front of the computer full-time. Imagine I do a job that I love, and therefore spend yet more hours in front of the computer, outside of the working day, not just evenings, [...]
