    JS Errors from Google Analytics

Google Analytics tracking code – the little chunk of javascript that  you put on the bottom of the web page -  has been updated sometime in  the past few months. Apparently, if a user had ad blocking software
and/or certain types of security software – they would sometimes get a javascript error.

If you got or updated to the new version of Google Analytics code  -  I think it came out about a year ago now – you should absolutely replace it. If, on the other hand, you updated or started your analytics account within the last few months – here’s how to tell if you have the new version – this is the last line of the new version:

    } catch(err) {}</script>

If that snippet of code is not the last line in the script, you need to update your tracking code.

Fixing The Problem – Updating Your Code

Updating can be done in a series of easy steps:

    1. Log in to Google Analytics
    2. From the Analytics Settings page, find the profile for which you  would like to retrieve the tracking code from within the list of accounts. Please note that tracking code is profile-specific.
    3. From that profile’s Actions column, click “Edit” At the top right of the Main Website Profile Information box.
    4. Click “Check Status.
    5. Now your tracking code can be copied and pasted from the text box in the “Instructions for adding tracking section”
