Apple’s Credit Crunch Christmas

Apple iMac Email MarketingBased on the email marketing I just received from Apple, I don’t think anyone told them that the world economy is in crisis. This isn’t quite a time for a post-9/11 spend yourself out of a potential recession period, but more a time when people are tightening their purse strings for the long and cold months ahead. The notion that an iMac is the best solution for some kind of catch-all Christmas present for the entire family is almost laughable, with its high price tag.

I know we can talk ourselves into a recession and not all of us are hurting, and should continue spending, though with much less care-free abandon, but at least continue spending, to help money to grease the wheels of the world economy.

Personally, like most, I have not quite thought about and budgetted for Christmas yet, but if I had, the “all-in-one, something-for-everyone iMac”, wouldn’t be that high on the list.  In my opinion a much better spend would be a set of Harmon Kardon Soundsticks, for an Nth of the price, and which perfectly complement any existing, iMac, MacBook, iPod or any other sound device.
